Our Restaurant

We take our food seriously here at Playgrounds Surf Camp. Our kitchen staff works around the clock to prepare healthy and delicious meals using the freshest ingredients.

Our head chef has 20 years of culinary experience and believes that every meal she creates is an expression of her love for the way that good food can bring people together. And if you poke your head in the kitchen and tell her how much you loved last night’s dinner, she just may slip you two desserts!

The Playgrounds kitchen staff has been developing the menu over the last 10 years and is a fusion of local Nicaraguan, Mexican, American and Hawaiian culinary traditions. Wherever possible we use organic locally sourced fruits and vegetables, pasture raised eggs, free range chickens and grass fed beef. All of our seafood is served fresh as can be even some of it caught right from the reef at Playgrounds – as fresh as it gets!

The restaurant and bar located in the upstairs of the main Rancho house is the heart of the resort – the main congregation area where meals are shared and laughter fills the room after a long day in the surf.

Breakfast

Typical Nicaraguan Breakfast

Two scrambled eggs with ham, onions, bell peppers and local spices, gallo pinto, ripe plantain slices, avocado and fresh local cheese.

Breakfast Tacos

Two toasted corn or flour tortilla stuffed with eggs, spiral cut ham, sautéed potatoes, diced onions, and bell peppers, Topped with pepper jack cheese and avocado. Served with pico de gallo and sour cream.

American Style

Two eggs any style served with home style potatoes, bacon, english muffin, fresh fruit jelly and butter.

You’re going to love these perfectly cooked banana pancakes served with smoked bacon.

Ham & Veggie Omelete

Smoked ham with sautéed onions and bell peppers. Topped with avocado, sour cream and pico de gallo. Served with chunks of battered yuca and a tamarind dipping sauce.

Huevos Rancheros

Two crispy corn tortillas topped with poached eggs and Playgrounds style ranchero sauce. Served with avocado and sour cream.

Lunch

Shrimp Tacos

Two flour or corn tortillas filled with sautéed shrimp and toped with sliced cabbage, pepper jack cheese, and avocado. Served with pico de gallo and Playgrounds special salsas on the side.

Chicken Burgers

Chicken breast sautéed to perfection served on a bun with all the fixings and real home cut potato french fries.

Fresh Fish Ceviche

Caught fresh daily and served with plantain chips and chunks of avocado.

Chicken Tacos

Two crispy corn tortillas filled with shredded chicken breast and topped with pepper jack cheese, crisp lettuce and slices of avocado. Served with pico de gallo and Playgrounds special salsas on the side.

Hawaiian Ahi Poki

Fresh blue fin tuna done just like you were back in the islands. Served with sliced plantain chips and a slice of Hawaiian Aloha.

Pulled Pork Sandwich

We smoke the pork here for 12 hours and it literally falls off the bone. We pile on our famous smoked pork and top it with sautéed vegetables and melted mozzarella cheese. Served with fresh cut french fries.

Freshest Fish Tacos

Two flour or corn tortillas filled with the fresh catch of the day. Breaded and lightly fried or grilled. Topped with crisp cabbage strips, pepper jack cheese and avocado. Served with pico de gallo, Playgrounds special salsas, and sliced lime on the side.

Angus Beef Cheeseburger

100% Angus beef patty served on a kaiser bun topped with all the fixings, brown sugar reduced onion rings and melted mozzarella cheese, served with a side of home cut fries.

Dinner

Puerto Nuevo Style Lobster

Caught right off the reef here at Playgrounds, two fresh lobster tails, served with moms spanish rice, refried beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, melted butter and hot corn tortillas. Another guest favorite!

Wood fired BBQ Chicken

Slow cooked and marinated in a home made plantain vinegar. Served with gallo pinto, plantain chips and a house green salad.

Mixed Seafood Pasta

Your choice of a home made red sauce or a spinach white cream sauce. Served with the freshest shrimp, squid, calamari and clams served over an angel hair pasta with toasted italian bread and a Valencia orange salad.

Churrasco with Chimichurri

Slow roasted filet mignon is thinly sliced and grilled over a hickory hard wood. Served with b.b.q baby potatoes, seasonal vegetables, chimichurri sauce and a mixed blue cheese walnut salad.

Whole Fried Snapper

A local favorite in Nicaragua. This one pound whole red snapper is battered and fried with a crispy crust on the outside and juicy flakey chunks of white fish on the inside. Served with gallo pinto, tostones, a side of spanish red sauce and a mixed greens salad.

Vigaron

One of the national dishes of Nicaragua. Soft boiled yuca root is topped with home-made plantain vinegar cabbage salad and big chunks of slow cooked baby back ribs and Chicharones.

Catch of the Day Fish Filet

Fresh catch of the day sautéed perfectly and topped with a balsamic mango sauce. Served with a parsley rice, fresh sautéed veggies, tostones and a lobster bisque you won’t soon forget.

The Green Room

Parsley, spinach, celery, cucumber, lime, and Gala apple, with a fresh squeezed orange juice base or coconut water. This is our signature drink loaded with a perfect balance of purifying and energizing ingredients!

Cucumber, carrot, beet, lime, fresh squeezed orange juice, and mint leaf. This light and citrusy blend will naturally cleanse your body.

Einstein

Gala apple, fresh squeezed orange juice, parsley, mint leaf, and cucumber. With this blend of citrus and greens, Time in the tube is always relevant.
